# Drafts and publishing

What an agent may do on its own, and how to let it publish.

A **draft** is a tour or tooltip that's switched off: saved, visible in your dashboard, never shown to visitors.

## The rule

An agent can publish (switch something on or off, or change anything that's live) only when **both** are true:

1. The project allows it: **Settings → Agents → What agents may do → Publish live**.
2. The agent has publish access: you ticked **Also let it publish live** when connecting it, or its API key has the **Publish** scope.

Otherwise the agent can still read the project and create, edit and delete drafts. If it tries to publish, it gets a refusal that says which of the two is missing, and a good agent will tell you so.

| | Drafts only (default) | Publish live |
| ----------------------------- | --------------------- | ------------------- |
| Read tours and tooltips | yes | yes |
| Create, edit, delete drafts | yes | yes |
| Create something already live | no | with publish access |
| Edit or delete live content | no | with publish access |
| Publish or unpublish | no | with publish access |

## Reviewing a draft

1. The agent tells you it's done, or calls [`request_review`](/docs/agents/review-requests) and you get an email.
2. Preview it on your site with its play link: open the tour's code button in the dashboard, or use `https://your-app/page?playTour=<id>`. Drafts play from the link.
3. Switch it on in the dashboard when it's right.

Switching on a tour switches off the page's other live tour: one tour is live per page.
